You Are Needed... For Altar Guild

ALTAR GUILD. Have you heard the words but don’t really know what it means? You don’t hear much about it at Gloria Dei because for years and years there have been a few, very dedicated and hard-working women that have performed all the duties of this foundation of worship.

Altar Guild helps prepare our church for worship in many ways.
Here are just a few examples of what is done weekly:

    •post hymn numbers on the hymn board
    •make sure bulletins are in place for pastor and worship assistants
    •replace Eternal Candle
    •communion preparation and setup
    •clean linens
    •fill candles
    •clean up after communion
    •vacuum altar area
    •water plants
    •remove papers from pews after service and straighten hymn books
    •order and set up flowers

Then there are the special setups and decorating of the sanctuary:

    •baptisms
    •weddings
    •Christmas
    •Easter
    •other special church services

For a few, this job is rewarding, but overwhelming. For many, this job is rewarding and exciting. What a privilege to be able to help prepare your church for meaningful worship.

Call the church office and tell us that you would like to serve on the Altar Guild. Don’t put it off, thinking that other people will do the job and that you are not needed. You are needed, and you will make a difference with your contribution.
