Council Meeting Schedule
Next council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007.
Doug Riddell responsible for November church lock up, council meeting devotions, and refreshments.
Approval of minutes
The minutes from Sept. 11, 2007 and the agenda for today were read and reviewed. Minutes approved as written.
Financial Business
Carole Fozkos and Yvonne Biesen are boxing-up old reports and moving across the hall. Yvonne is learning the system. Jerry Soderquist and
Carole are going to meet with her this month. Finance committee wants committee and other budgets by Nov. 7. Pastor offered his help to any committee needing help with their budgets.
Pastor and Staff Business
Pastor's report was read and reviewed.Pastor suggested his report be printed in the Glad Tidings each month for the congregation to read.
Morning and evening Revelation classes start Oct. 29 and run every Monday until Dec 10.
Pastor's Report
    • Presided at Saturday and Sunday worship with Word and Sacrament and at two Holy
Baptism services.
    • Attended weekly Bible study with area pastors; men's group bi-weekly breakfasts; "Thinking like a
    •Christian" Bible study; three-day Leadership Conference at Turkey Run; Senior Living conference at
    •Wittenburg Village in Crown Point; Stoll and Scroll with Bishop Stuck and the LCMS President at
    •Valparaiso University; finance, learning and worship committee meetings.
    • Recorded daily Dial-A-Story (838-2576) and began to distribute cards.
    • Taught confirmation classes and Sunday School.
    • Walked in the CROP Walk.
    • Met with a couple for baptism and a couple for a wedding.
    • One hospital visit and five shut-in visits.
    • Played with new software called Church Windows.
    • Various meetings with individual members.
    • Prepared for upcoming class on Revelation.
    • Went fishing.
•Petitions and communications
Received a letter from the Highland Choral Boosters and David Markley requesting use of the dinnerware for the annual Madrigal Dinner. The dates are Dec. 13 - Dec. 17.
Use of the dinnerware will be allowed provided there is no conflict with church or congregational needs.
•Training, workshops and meetings
Financial workshop discussed and put on hold.
•New Business
Pastor Trexler wants a wish list for the vision of Gloria Dei. Specific things that committees, council members and congregation members want to see for Gloria Dei.
Council members are asked to talk to congregation members and bring ideas and suggestions.
Old Business
Nomination Committee 2007: Rebecca Tutto, Adrienne Bakker, Bob Covault, John Popka, Pam
Hawkins and Eric Socin (chairperson). Three spots to fill. Importance of worship service attendance for council members stressed.

•Audit Committee: Three voting members elected by council. No council members or officers. Three-year term one member elected each year.
•Witness: Russ McLeod: List of members to contact at next council meeting.
•Service: Robin Carlascio: CROP Walk had 23 members from Gloria Dei walk.
Support:
•Finance: Dick Schwartz: Need budgets by Nov. 7.
•Property: Roland Jahnke: Replaced burned bulbs in exit signs, power-washed algae from brickwork, repaired fluorescent lights in sanctuary.
•Stewardship: Randy Vates and Doug Riddell: Possible programs for 2008. Pastor to attend workshop for transitional churches on Oct 13.
•Worship: Carol Lynn Brechner: Thanksgiving Eve service 7 p.m. and Christmas Eve services 7 and 11 p.m.
